Faculty Development

Our Goal

Faculty Development refers to a broad range of activities that institutions use to renew or assist teachers and educators in their multiple academic roles.

Our goal is to provide high-quality faculty development programming to support faculty, supervisors, preceptors, field instructors, clinical educators, status appointees, and resident teachers.

We provide information about faculty development resources and programming:

  • Specific to teaching and assessment in the MD Program,
  • Specific for implementation of PGME competency-based education, and
  • Content that is common for teachers and assessors needed in the implementation of the MD Program and PGME curriculum

The MD Program Office Faculty Development (OFD) offers a variety of opportunities to help medical educators prepare for their teaching roles in the MD Program at the University of Toronto. We offer sessions and resources that are designed to meet the needs of faculty members’ teaching roles and responsibilities in all four years of the MD Program curriculum.

Faculty Development opportunities are designed for both the seasoned faculty member and for those new to teaching.

We provide information and resources to help support the implementation of CBME at the University of Toronto, including the Family Medicine's Triple C Curriculum, the Royal College's Competence by Design (CBD) and other innovative competency-based education initiatives.

In addition, we send periodic focused communication with key people and partners, such as program directors and administrators, residents, hospital and department education leads and department chairs, clinical chairs, and members of various committees like the Hospital University Education Committee (HUEC) and the PGME Advisory Committee.
